Hand made utensil made from bell metal or Bronze known as Kansa are native to the Kansara community of Gujarat. Kansa is an alloy of 78% copper and 22% Tin as described in Ayurveda.
It first heated to make it malleable and further beaten by hand by the artisan to achieve desirable shape. These vessels have inherent medicinal properties of the metals from which the alloy is composed.
Copper as per Ayurveda and other natural medicinal systems is known for its anti-inflammatory properties in relieving joint pains and arthritis, zinc is known for its antiseptic properties in preventing skin disorders. Kansa serveware when used over a period of time are known to cure and prevent gastric ailments, diabetes and skin disorders.
