This Ajrakh hand block printed stole is a vibrant celebration of classic iconography and the timeless "madder red" heritage of Kutch. The body of the stole is adorned with an intricate "floral medallion" jaal, where each ornate blossom is framed within a geometric lattice, creating a rhythmic and architectural visual story. Developed using the legendary 16-step Ajrakh process, this stole is crafted from premium breathable cotton, offering a soft tactile feel and a versatile, elegant drape.
The design is defined by its regal transition from the structured medallion field to a high-contrast, multi-tiered border. The ends of the stole feature a striking band of "Paisley" or "Kalka" motifs—a traditional symbol of life and fertility—leading into a series of bold "Mihrab" arched details. Rendered in a deep natural indigo and charcoal against the warm terracotta base, each impression is made with hand-carved wooden blocks, requiring master-level precision to ensure the fluid curves of the paisley remain perfectly aligned. Hand-finished teal tassels provide a refined touch of artisanal movement and contrast.
The rich color palette is achieved entirely through organic processes: the vibrant reds from madder root, the deep blues from multiple natural fermentation vats, and the dark outlines from fermented iron mordants. These natural pigments provide a multi-dimensional depth of color that is gentle on the skin and environmentally sustainable, ensuring the accessory develops more character over time. The high-quality cotton ensures year-round comfort, making it an ideal piece for adding a touch of heritage craft to a professional blazer, a neutral linen dress, or a casual ethnic look.

The origin of Ajrakh can probably be older than we can imagine. Excavation sites of Indus Valley Civilization give evidence that Ajrakh was possibly one of the oldest printing methods the Indian subcontinent.
The etymology of “Ajrakh” can be traced to the Sanskrit word “a-jharat”, which means that which does not fade. Since indigo is one of the main colours of this textile, it is possible that Ajrak got its name from “Azrak”, which means “blue” in Arabic.
