Whether it was Baisakhi, Lohri, Holi, Gurpurab, Janmashtami, or just another day a Punjabi felt like some Dhol and Bhangra, Phulkari was always there, dancing along with the Gidda. Phulkari is a traditional embroidery from the Punjab region—the word itself says it all: phul means flower and kari means embroidery. The craft is famous for its vibrant, contrasting colours and richly filled patterns. The original handwork Phulkari is still made by the skilled women artisans of Punjab.
